Kdrama Challenge: Question 20

20 Nov

Who is your favorite actress?

Kim Sun-ah – What don’t I like about Kim Sun-ah.  She picks these good female roles to portray.  They are strong and sassy with just enough vulnerability thrown in.

Yoon Eun-hye – Do I have a bias towards Eun-hye because she was in the first drama I watched?  Maybe.  Compared to other portrayals, Eun-hye was more convincing as a “boy”.  Sorry Park Shin-hye…. She was even 1/2 of the reason I stuck with Lie to Me till the end.  Also I lean more toward comedy drama and try to stay far away from melodramas.  But just because I like Eun-hye so much I will put that rule aside and watch I Miss You.

My sister’s opinion:

I will admit I really don’t have a favorite.  I like the individual roles a lot of them play but I just haven’t seen enough of each to declare my favorite.

Who is your favorite actor?

Lee Min-ho – Its Lee Min-ho.  I don’t really need to explain why he is on my favorite list.  You all understand right?  But I will give one reason.  I usually tune out most fighting scenes……until I watched Faith.  With Lee Min-ho doing the fighting I definitely pay a little more attention.  That ALONE means he deserves a spot on the list.

Gong Yoo –  Gong Yoo is definitely one of my favorite comedic actors.  Don’t get me wrong he is a well rounded actor.  I just like when he make me laugh more.  It doesn’t hurt that he was in my first and one of my favorite dramas.

Sung Joon –  He piqued my interest in Lie to Me as the younger brother but I felt that there wasn’t enough of him.  Then he totally won me over in Shut Up Flower Boy Band.  I am interested to see what he does in Can I Get Married and if next year I will still have him on this list.  Plus come on he does take a pretty good picture.

My sister’s opinion:

Lee Min-ho!!!!!!!!

What is the worst drama you watched until the end?

I have had pretty good luck with the dramas I have watched.  Most have been good with a few being completely awesome.  I don’t think I have come across one that I would deem as the worst or even really bad.  That being said there is a least one I would say was decent.  I am amazed I made it completely through Lie to Me and didn’t end up putting it on the back burner as I did for Mary Stayed Out All Night.

I think the only reason I hung on for the entirety is because of the chemistry between Yoon Eun-hye and Kang Ji-hwan.  Other than that the whole drama was rather lackluster.  There were a lot of episodes where not a lot happens.  I enjoyed scenes with Ji-hwan and Sung Joon as brothers but they were few and far between.  Oh and could they use the plot device of Ah-jung gets drunk any more.  I swear the soju industry must have funded Lie to Me.  Plus once Ki-joon was all like hey Ah-jung let’s do this whole relationship thing and I totally want to marry you.  She was like ummmmmm no I have to find what I am missing and I can only do it on Jeju Island.  Don’t even get me started on the crying scene over finding the lost artifact that symbolize her finding whatever the hell she was missing.

My sister’s opinion:

Triple – I don’t even want to talk about it.

I’m Sorry I Love You – Whats with all the running?

Kdrama Challenge: Question 17

17 Nov

What dramas have you have been meaning to watch but keep putting off?

Oh this should be a long list but I am going to spare you and just pick a few.  I am famous for promising I am going to read or watch something but I never do.  Its one of the things that annoys my sister and actually my brother so much.  Just ask them.  They have to talk in code when I am around just so they don’t spoil the tv show or movie that I am very behind on watching.  Ugh and I have tons of books just sitting there waiting to be read that my sister has given me to read.  I swear one day I will…… maybe.

Time Slip Dr.  Jin – I say on my side bar that I am watching this drama.  It’s all one big fat lie.  I keep meaning to but it hasn’t happened yet.  I do have every intention.  It’s just when I do I get distracted by other dramas.  Oops.

Arang and the Magistrate – Whenever I checked the WordPress Reader a couple of weeks ago for what was being written about Kdrama land, it was Arang this and Arang that.  Clearly I was not one of the cool kids watching this drama.  Hopefully I will rectify this soon because it looks super good.  Though knowing my track record I would not keep my hopes up.

Answer Me 1997 – I squeed in excitement when I saw this drama.  Ahhh the late nineties.  I was totally in high school during this time period.  It was going to be some super awesome nostalgia time.  Yet have I even started watching it.  NOPE!  I know I am a loser.

Whew!  I feel like that was good to let that all out.  I don’t have to live with the shame anymore.  Now I can enter the fast approaching new year with a clean slate ready and willing to not to put off watching anymore dramas.  Or not.  Knowing myself I will just keep  adding more to the list.

My sister’s opinion:

I watched the first episodes of Arang and Greatest Love.  I liked them enough to want to see more but something else always pulls my attention away.

Kdrama Challenge: Question 16

16 Nov

Yay!!!  I am so proud that so far its day 16 of National Blog Posting Month and I have actually posted everyday.  It does help that I am just answering questions and not thinking up ideas for posts.  But it is still an amazing accomplish especially since I did not post at all last month.  Now on to the important kdrama related stuff.

A kdrama you started but can’t finished?

Awww…..Mary Stayed Out All Night.  It started off so good.  I instantly loved the quirky Wi Mae-ri as I watched her help the repo men take away her stuff.  I laughed so hard when she stalked Kang Moo-kyul after hitting him with a car.  I liked watching the two of them create a little makeshift family for themselves.  Plus hello she knits!!!!  Then it got waaay to serious and clumsy.  You definitely could tell that they had a switch in writers half way through.  Gone were the little humor moments that made me crack up.  The angst of the love triangle started suffocating me plus whatever drama happened in Byun Jung-in childhood which including a kidnapping and major daddy issues.

My sister’s opinion:

Full House – I quit watching after that deep v sweater nonsense they put Rain in.

Also Boys Over Flowers.  I just couldn’t stay interested.  Like I couldn’t understand why she was fighting the attraction so much.

What is your favorite ending?

I think of as of right now my favorite ending would be My Name is Kim Sam-soon or My Lovely Sam-soon.  I like the fact that they didn’t wrap it all up in a neat happy package.  That’s not what this drama was.  Sam-soon was not perfect and neither was her life.  She did get the guy but as in all relationships it still needs work.  Its something that anyone could walk away from and see a bit of themselves in it to relate to.

My sister’s opinion:

Secret Garden, they chose their choices and the drama wrapped up with not everything being picture perfect.  Even still the main couples were happy. I also felt the mother forgave them in her way but was too stubborn to admit it.  I even loved Oska and his lady love’s ending.  She got all gangsta on the hoe she thought was flirting with Oska.  Oh and the creepy Chippendales bow tie he wore to propose made me lol.

What is your favorite kiss?

Lie to Me –  The Coca Cola Kiss:  After having a flirty soda fight where they drench each other with Coke,  they lean and kiss that still gives me that lovey dovey feeling when I think about it.  The only problem I had after that was that we had to be reminded of the kiss every other moment of the drama.  I mean we get it already they kissed while being soaked in carbonated beverages.  Despite it all that it still was a good kiss.

Flower Boy Ramyun Shop – Cha Chi-soo does not do anything small plus he is a hormonal teenager.  So when he leans in to kiss Eun-bi, it’s not some simple chaste kiss that dramas like to do.  Oh no this is full on tongue in mouth sort of kiss.  And in case she forgot the first kiss, he kissed her again.  Chi-soo meant some business.

My sister’s opinion:

Queen In-hyun’s Man – I liked how the first kiss was instigated early on by the girl but my favorite is the second kiss in the library while trying to hide from the security cameras.

Favorite I Love You?

My favorite I love you is not from a main character and it isn’t really even a happy one.  Jeremy’s (You’re Beautiful) reaction to Go Mi-nam and Tae-kyung being a couple completely caught me off guard.  You think he is going to have his normal fun-loving go with the flow Jeremy reaction.  Oh no….  Just like Go Mi-nam you don’t realize how much he really liked her.  Now I am not one to feel much emotions and can be a little cold-hearted during sad touching scenes.  Even I teared up a little bit when he sung the song and then told her that once this bus ride ends he will return back to happy Jeremy.  Lee Hong-ki did some AMAZING acting in that scene.

My sister’s opinion:
Coffee Prince – He was being a dill hole pretending that he was mad that she use to like Han-sung.  Then she said it “I love you.  I love you.  I really love you!”  and he was all shawhaaa.  Then he told her that he loves her more.  It was cute.

What is your favorite meet-cute or first meeting of the main couple?
Ahhh the first meeting.   It usually includes some sort of misunderstanding where the male or female (or both) finds the other annoying.  Eventually of course it blossoms into true love.   This is another question where I can’t pick just one there are so many good (and hilarious) one.

Greatest (or Best) Love.  This scene was so over the top and immature.  When Dokko Jin notices Ae-jung leaning on his van, he talks down to her and tries to get her to throw out his trash like she is his servant.  Ae-jung gets annoyed by this and tries to see who is in the van.  In Dokko Jin style he grabs her hand to signs it with his autograph and tells her to figure out who he is.

My Lovely (or My Name is Kim) Sam-soon.  After Sam-soon catches her boyfriend cheating on her at a hotel on Christmas Eve, she breaks down crying in a bathroom.  The problem is she does not realize that she is a men’s bathroom.  Jin-heon is the nice chap who lets Sam-soon know she is in the wrong bathroom as well has giving her some unsolicited and callous advice.

Mary Stayed Out All Night – Mary hits Mu-gyul with a car.  He is fine and goes about his free-spirited boho existence but then she stalks the hell out of him to get him to sign a paper saying the accident was not her fault.  Then they end up getting drunk together.  Oh and they end up stay out ….. all night.

What is your favorite scene?

I love this scene in You’re Beautiful where they poke a little fun at the real world of fan fiction particularly the boy love genre.  I don’t know what it is but people (especially females) love to pair guys up into romantic pairings.  The only thing missing from this video is after the scene you find that Jeremy is reading the fan fiction.  I found it funny that Jeremy has been not only following the fan fic series but finds it interesting.

I also really like part of the opening sequence of Protect the Boss which I have already done a post on.
